Career

Kenneth Porio has more than 10 years of work experience on his belt: first in outsourcing, more than two years spent in retail, five years spent in the academe, and currently working for a nonprofit focusing on education. He also does freelancing on the side.

He can teach basic and advanced computer skills to different kinds of students. He can also help with computer systems, web presence, research work, and local language translation. He works hard and does his best.

Outsourcing

Kenneth's humble beginnings in his career started in a small office in Davao City where he worked as a virtual assistant for a handful of clients. His work spanned different aspects of Search Engine Optimization, Content Creation, and Website Development.

Retail

Kenneth then worked as a Technical Assistant for Park 'N Shop Supermart, the anchor supermarket of Victoria Plaza Mall (now NCCC Mall VP), the oldest shopping mall in the Davao Region. His work mainly covered the POS terminal, retail information systems, public address system, and other IT assets of the company. He occasionally did graphics work for marketing materials of the company, specially during major events in Davao City.

Academe in a Hospitality & Tourism School

Kenneth then worked in the academe under the Joji Ilagan International Schools, aptly called as JIB, a group of schools specializing in tourism, hospitality, culinary, and entrepreneurship.

He was a college and senior high school instructor who taught Computer Applications in Hospitality and Tourism, Great Books, Media Presentation and Innovation, Internet Applications, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Excel, Programming in C++, and Word Processing with Presentation in the college department. He also taught Media and Information Literacy, Empowerment Technologies, Inquiries, Investigations and Immersion, Introduction to the Philosophy of the Human Person, and 21st Century Literature in the Philippines and the World in Senior High School. He also taught foreign language in Mandarin Chinese, and was also a member of the panel in research works.

Nonprofit

Kenneth worked for Children of Asia Philippines (COA-PH), a nonprofit organization that promotes child rights, including the right to education. He was assigned as the IT Administrator and Trainer under Project YUNIT, a project of COA-PH focusing on education continuity during the COVID-19 pandemic. He mainly trained IT Skills to children, faculty, and PTA members of the nine partner schools of the organization in Cebu City and the municipalities of Alegría, Daanbantayan, Medellín, and Minglanilla in Cebu Province.

Academe in the Premier State University

Kenneth currently works for the University of the Philippines Cebu in Cebu City, a constituent unit of the country's premier state university. He is teaching computer science courses under the Department of Computer Science of the College of Science. Currently teaching Introduction to Computer Science and Programming Paradigms.
